Seathwaite, Borrowdale, Cumbria
Seathwaite is a hamlet in the Borrowdale Valley, Cumbria. The nearest major town is Keswick 8 miles away. It has been "famous" for many years as being the wettest inhabited place in England.
Between 19th and 20th November 2009 Seathwaite Farm received 314.4mm of rainfall in a 24hr period. It appears that this is now a record for a 24hr period ( subject to Met Office confirmation), however the 0900-0900hr record still remains with Martinstown, Dorset 18th July 1955 (279mm)
